Support Concert of the Lucernalis International Liturgical Festival
GSO invites you to a concert by Massimo Musicist Giovannio Pierluigio da Palestrina.
Palestrina is still considered the most prominent creator of sacred music in the Western world, and its music today sounds in the liturgy and in concert halls. At this concert, the GPS ensemble invites you to touch the Renaissance musical tradition and commemorate the 500th anniversary of the music master. It is often referred to as a symbol of polyphonic music of Roman schools - balanced, transparent and subordinate to text. Palestrina's music became an exemplary response to the requirements for church music: clear text, spiritual depth and music service for the liturgy. His work established an aesthetic and theological ideal, and Palestrina himself is often referred to as "church music savior".
This concert also has an additional goal of a support event for the emerging International Liturgical Music Festival Lucernalis, which will take place on May 8-11. In Vilnius.
