Like every year. Where the woods of the oldest Vilnius are rustling, we invite you to celebrate the time of ILGIU by singing together.
Ilgiu songs are a special phenomenon in our culture. Orphans' songs are called in another way, they carry an old tradition, to honor departed loved ones, to remember ancestors, to sing and cry longing, as if to cleanse the soul from a heavy burden. For many years, we meet every year at the table of LONG songs led by "Promočių giesmių".
To be accompanied by thoughts, to be touched by sound, to remember, to mourn our near and far ancestors.
The event is emotionally deep. If you have recent bereavement, you are sensitive, you can pull back from singing whenever you need to. The event does not oblige you to sing. No singing experience required. The songs will be accompanied by musical improvisations by violinist Tad Dešuk. If you don't want to sing, you can just come and hang out and listen.
Song has been and is equal to prayer in all times, in all nations.
" Dušia doesn't see the light, but he hears the sound" (Malukas)
