This group was assembled to record the soundtrack for the Latvian film Dream Team 1935, which tells the story of the Latvian basketball team in 1935. winning the first European basketball championship. The recording process and its result were so successful that the band members decided to continue playing together.
The band's activities include not only traditional Dixieland music - they also strive for a new, more creative approach, arranging and performing a variety of styles of music using traditional Dixieland band instrumentation. One of the most interesting and successful programs - "Journey to Dixieland" - includes works of modern pop music (M. Jackson, A-Ha, Robbie Williams, etc.) in Dixieland arrangements. Another program, The Roaring 1920s in Latvia, focuses on early Latvian jazz music of the 20th century. in the 1930s.
Dream Team has played at many Latvian jazz festivals, such as Rīgas Ritmi, Saulkrasti Jazz, and the International Dixieland Festival in Umurga . The group often performs in Latvian radio studios, organizes performances in Riga and throughout Latvia, and plays in jazz clubs both locally and abroad.
