A concert dedicated to the legendary saxophonist Charlie Parker – a pioneer of the bebop style whose work fundamentally changed the history of jazz.

The Manvydas Pratkelis Quartet will present a program showcasing the energy, virtuosity, and endless improvisational freedom of this music. Captivating the audience not only with his masterful technique but also with his unique sense of humor, Manvydas creates a relaxed atmosphere, bringing listeners closer to the music and its stories.

In 1955, the world lost saxophone virtuoso Charlie Parker (1920–1955)—one of the most innovative creators in jazz. This concert honors the memory of this legendary musician and composer.

The initiator of the project - Manvydas Pratkelis, has been studying Parker’s improvisational style for many years, integrating it into his own creative work. Having earned a Master’s degree at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, the saxophonist stands out for his versatility— his style seamlessly merges traditional jazz, free jazz, fusion, hip-hop, funk, and R&B.

Pranas Kentra – composer, Head of the Rhythm Music Department at VIKO (Vilnius University of Applied Sciences), and member of the Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble and Broken Glass 4tet.

Vytis Nivinskas – Doctor of Arts, associate professor, and one of Lithuania’s most prominent double bassists. A composer and researcher, he has performed in over 20 countries alongside numerous renowned artists, and is a founder and co-creator of CinAmono, Baltic Asteroids, Trio Užribis, and many other bands and projects.

Darius Rudis (drums) – educator at VIKO, Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, and B. Dvariono Music School; one of the country’s most active and highly valued drummers.
