The Czech music concert held at the Philharmonic several years ago aroused great interest of the audience, so the National Philharmonic, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic, invites you to the second "Power of Czech Music". This year we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the composer Bedřich Smetana, so the concert will begin with the symphonic poem of this Czech music classic "
Šárka" (1875, about the ancient Czech warrior Šárka) from the series "My Homeland". At the end of the evening - the last 9th symphony "From the New World" (1893) by Czech romanticist Antonín Dvořák. The composer created it while living in America, which at that time was often called the New World. In the USA, Dvořák not only headed the New York Conservatory, but also drew inspiration from local culture, studied Indian melodies and epics, and was interested in black songs.
