International M.K. Čiurlionis music festival The festival opens the Vilnius season with a world premiere - a composition specially created for this evening by the composer Mindaugas Urbaitis, which will be performed by one of the world's most famous trumpet players Ole Edvardas Antonsen, the famous pianist Aleksandra Žvirblytė and the Vilnius city ensemble NIKO, which has conquered the world's most famous stages, led by the founder, conductor and composer Gediminas Gelgot.
Norwegian trumpet player Ole Edvard Antonsen, who is already well known to the Lithuanian public, is today considered a trumpet luminary, who fascinates with his extraordinary sound, unparalleled technique and unique interpretation.

No longer fitting within the limits of his instrument's repertoire, the trumpeter took on new artistic challenges. Today, his fame is already expanding beyond the boundaries of classical music - the artist performs not only classical, but also jazz and popular music, improvising both acoustically and using techniques specific to electronic music, he writes his own compositions and performs them all over the world.
Ole Edvard Antonsen has released more than 60 albums and held more than 40 concerts in the world's most famous halls with the most famous symphony and chamber orchestras conducted by personalities such as Mariss Jansons, Wolfgang Sawallish or Kent Nagano.
In his country, the trumpeter is a real star, no less popular and loved than the performers of popular culture, who for many years organizes the prestigious festival "Festspillene i Elverum", where music stars from all over the world gather.
It was thanks to this festival that in 2016 Ole Edvard Antonsen's friendship with the composer Gedimin Gelgot and the NIKO ensemble led by him began. After the hugely successful performances, the collaboration continues to this day - the tandem of musicians has already held more than 20 performances in Norway and Lithuania, listening to their playing even Queen Sonja of Norway.
Consistently developing friendship between creators and performers naturally takes on more and more complete forms and turns into creative and conceptual concert programs.
On the fourteenth of November, these performers will appear together on the stage of the Lithuanian National Philharmonic.
The concert program will reflect the extremely wide spectrum of artistic interests of Ole Edvard Antonsen.
In the first part of the concert, you will hear music for trumpet and strings by baroque composers Corelli and Tartini, to works by Arvo Pärt and other contemporary composers.
As well as the world premiere of M. Urbaitis' work, which the trumpeter will perform together with pianist A. Žvirblyta, G. Gelgot and NIKO. " In the new work dedicated to M. K. Čiurlionis, as in the previous one, I rely on fragments of his musical work, aiming to reflect the characteristic features of his work qualities in various fields of art, arising from the experiences and impressions of nature accumulated in childhood and youth." (M.Urbaitis)
The second part of the concert will reveal Ole Edvard Antonsen as a creator and improviser - the most memorable works of composer Gediminas Gelgot and the trumpeter himself will be played in atmospheric style and improvisations, which he will perform with the help of Looper pedals.
