"Tosca" is the fifth opera by Giacomo Puccini (1858–1924), presented to the public in 1900. in Rome and is considered the best and most famous classic of the 19th century. Italian opera works. The composer was inspired by a play written by playwright Victorien Sardou. After seeing its production, Ricordi Puccini wrote to his publishing house: "In this play I see exactly the kind of opera I need: without too bright proportions of characters or decorativeness of the plot, it is also not a work that requires abundant musical means." After a year of negotiations, the decision to write an opera was made, and its libretto was undertaken by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa.
The plot of the opera tells the love story of the painter Mario Cavaradossi and the famous singer Floria Tosca, surrounded by leitmotifs of sacrifice, coercion, jealousy and loss. The musical heritage of the work allowed the most famous opera soloists of this era to reveal themselves and shine: Maria Callas, Angela Gheorghiu, Plácido Domingo, Jon Kaufmann, Tito Gobbi. "Vissi d'arte" is a famous soprano aria full of tragedy; the powerful Te Deum aria, enriched with organ, choir and echoes of church bells, is one of the foundational opuses in the baritone's voice repertoire; “Mario, Mario. Son qui!” is a love portrait of the main characters, introducing them to their multifaceted characters. Condemned to death, Cavaradossi performs "E lucevan le stelle", perhaps the most famous and most frequently performed tenor aria.
