According to the influential publication Pitchfork, these musicians are truly enlightened - freed from the notions of harmony and correct music and doing whatever they want. Judging by the reaction of listeners all over the world, they do it with high quality and originality. For example: they have well over a million monthly listens on Spotify, several of their videos have surpassed one million views, and their live shows are often sold out.

Competing creative performance with "gizzards" can be rare. Last year, the band released their 25th studio album, The Silver Cord. On average, they release two studio albums a year, and in 2017 and 2022 they released as many as five! If Australians play as long as the Rolling Stones, by 2072 they will boast a discography of 120 albums.
Rolling Stone Australia has listed the group as one of the 50 greatest Australian artists of all time . It seems that today the group is definitely among the most anticipated artists in the world.

About King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard|
"King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard" is a music group from Australia, formed in 2010. in Melbourne. The current line-up of the band consists of Stu Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Cook Craig, Joey Walker, Lucas Harwood and Michael Cavanagh. They are famous for their constant exploration of various musical genres, energetic live performances and an extremely large collection of their records.
The band's discography is truly impressive - their 25th studio album was released last year. Starting with garage and surf rock, "gizzards" released psychedelic and progressive rock albums, later added elements of jazz and folk, various types of metal, and even tried occult rap and synth-pop. One of the band's fans jokes that if he sold his Gizzard record collection, he'd raise the amount needed for a house deposit.
Internet publication Stereogum sums it up: "This is a rare band that can convincingly blur the lines between Phish, " Neu!, King Crimson and Osees, but keeping their original sound.”
In 2024, the group plans to play almost 60 concerts around the world, i.e. i.e. on average every weekend, and sometimes more often. Some of their performances are marked with a special tag: "3-hour marathon".
Both in their creations and recordings, musicians are constantly looking for unexpected solutions. In one of the albums, the vocalist recorded his voice by placing four "iPhones" in the room. Critics described the sound of the next album as if it was recorded in the next room through a woolen sock. Inspired by the music of the Middle East and Turkey, the Gizzards adapted their guitars to the traditional instruments of the region. Musicians experiment with microtonal music and polyrhythms unusual in the Western rock tradition. To the skeptics' question "Why would you do that", they answer "Why not".
In the band's latest album "The Silver Cord", the musicians, inspired by the purchased electronic drum kit from Simmons, abandoned the guitar rock sound, and focused on synthesizer music. The publication consists of two parts: original compositions lasting half an hour and their extended versions lasting more than an hour and a half. It is interesting that "PetroDragonic Apocalypse", released in 2023, also features completely different music - in it, the musicians pay tribute to the sound of heavy metal. The musicians themselves present these two records as different and complementary sides of In and Jang.
"King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard" is very concerned about environmental issues. In the 2020s for the single "If Not Now, Then When?" they were awarded the Environmental Music Prize. After receiving 20 thousand musicians donated to the non-profit organization "The Wilderness Society". Some time ago, they released a short documentary film, for which the group donated the money collected for screenings to initiatives that help the Australian aborigines. Last fall, the musicians called on their countrymen to support indigenous rights in the Indigenous Voice to Parliament referendum.
As Pitchfork says, “Fourteen years into their career, the band's stamina is endless. They passed through ancient Mesopotamia into space and still seem to be searching for new territories.”
