Cinematoria "Cali-Gari" Cinematoria "Cali-Gari" is an experiment that combines orchestral music, cinema, academic and popular, acoustic and electro-acoustic music. In this form, the musical track and stage action of one of the most significant classics of German expressionist silent cinema - the film "The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari", created more than a century ago - in 1920, is presented. The film, which is considered a masterpiece of psychological horror, takes the viewer into the subconscious of a mentally unstable person, explores the themes of human manipulation and blind obedience. According to film critic Siegfried Kracauer, the character of Caligari symbolized unlimited power against human rights and values. These themes are newly interpreted and actualized in the partly fixed, partly improvised music of the composer, national award winner Algirdas Martinaitis and electronic music creator Leon Somov. The concert is enriched by a theatrical stage event that combines the boundaries of film and reality. This concert becomes a bright introduction to 2026. October 29 at 5 p.m. The international exhibition "Became Caligari! Virtual Cabinet" is opening at the Museum of Lithuanian Theatre, Music and Cinema. The exhibition marks the collaboration of the Lithuanian Theatre, Music and Cinema Museum with the Berlin Film Museum (Deutsche Kinemathek – Museum für Film und Fernsehen). The exhibition and accompanying events will become a unique multi-platform experience: original exhibits from the Berlin Film Museum will be presented, a film will be shown, visitors will be treated to a virtual reality experience, lectures, discussions and educational programs for young people and teachers. Today, more than a century later, the film is relevant in a new way: it has become not only a film history, but a living cultural commentary on modern reality. Getting to know her becomes a conversation about ourselves: what we see, what we believe, what we obey, and how we can recognize when someone is trying to "hypnotize" us.
