The first composer of the program is Clara Schumann, who was in close contact with the most prominent creators of her time and made a significant contribution to the development of classical music. She was not only a talented composer, but also an active concert pianist who was able to combine an intense artistic career with family life - she raised eight children. The program will begin with three sometimes delicate and fragile, sometimes simmering romances. They open up an intimate world of romanticism, where the pages of music become an emotional diary of earthly experiences and bold dreams for the composer.

Grażyna Bacewicz, who comes from a Lithuanian-Polish family, speaks in her fourth sonata with a modern, energetic and intellectual musical voice. There are quite a few contradictions here: firmness, intellectuality closely intertwine and create a harmonious connection with natural emotional intuition. The anxiety of the post-war period is felt, but also the desire for creative freedom. After the break, another romance will return to the world of romance - a gentle, lyrical and nostalgic musical confession of the composer Amy Beach, full of the warmth of late romanticism.

In order for the work of the composer of Lithuanian origin to be heard during the concert, the program is supplemented with the work "Pas de deux" by Diana Čemerytė, which opens a modern, sensitive and personal dialogue. This is music that invites you not only to listen, but also to be in it, to experience the fragile balance between inner peace and constant movement. In the words of the composer herself: "It is a conversation of rich colors and the snarl of a naked violin, the alternation of a piano monologue and long violin lines. It is symbolic that the piece was written in the womb with two lives rushing (steps two), and finished while dreaming of white passages of cherry snow." At the end, we will experience Mel Bonis' sonata together, which is full of elegance, refined French color, but also drama, large scope and extremely dynamic emotional spectrum.

This program imbued with exceptional sensitivity, inner strength and diversity of emotions becomes not only a musical journey of different eras and styles, but also an invitation to hear what has been silenced or underappreciated for a long time. This is a lively, sensitive and multi-layered story about the female voice in music - about its fragility, strength and inexhaustible creative power.

About the artist:

Onutė Gražinytė is a pianist who has performed with Kremerata Baltica, City of Birmingham Symphonic Orchestra, Basel Sinfonieorchester, Salzburg Mozarteum and Orchester National de Lyon, Klaipėda Chamber, Kaunas Symphony, Lithuanian National and State Orchestras. In addition to solo and orchestral projects, Onutė is also an enthusiastic chamber music performer. In 2020, Onutė collaborated with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and released her first CD with Arvo Pärt's works "Lamentate". This album received praise from foreign critics, including BBC Music Magazine, Pizzicato, Diapason d'or and Diapason d'or Arte. Arvo Pärt himself expressed his admiration for O. Gražinytė's talent: "[She] is a pianist who, despite her young age, has already reached extraordinary musical maturity. I appreciate her musical sensitivity when performing my works."

Simona Venslovaitė is a violinist who often performs in Lithuania and throughout Europe. As a soloist and member of chamber ensembles, S. Venslovaitė performed in Latvia, Austria, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, France, China. As a soloist, she performed with the Lithuanian state and Klaipėda symphony orchestras, Latvian, Vienna, St. Christopher's, Munich chamber orchestras. The violinist gained her first experience of orchestral music at the age of 17, playing at the Vilnius St. In the group of first violins of the Christopher Chamber Orchestra. In 2010-2015, Simona was a member of the Kremerata Baltika chamber orchestra led by Gidon Kremer. In 2015-2018, the violinist played in the group of first violins in the Leipzig Gewandhaus symphony orchestra, led by R.Chailly, later by A.Nelsons. Currently, Simona is the concertmaster of the Vienna-based contemporary music ensemble "Ensemble XX. Jahrhundert" (conducted by P.Burwik).
