THE OBSESSED in Vilnius! A powerful evening of doom metal awaits you this November.
THE OBSESSED formed in the 20th century. Late 1980s in Potomac, Maryland. The band was founded by legendary guitarist Scott "Wino" Weinrich of Saint Vitus and Spirit Caravan. Their music was heavily influenced by Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa, The Dictators and The Stooges.
After the first line-up changes and in 1983. released the Sodden Jackal EP, the band disbanded in the late 1990s when Wino joined Saint Vitus. This was followed by the release of a previously recorded album that sparked the band's comeback and led to 1994's from the album The Church Within. Although the album received good reviews, the group soon broke up again.
In 2011. THE OBSESSED returned to the stage with a performance at Roadburn Festival. It was followed by concerts at the Hellfest Open Air and Maryland Deathfest festivals.
In 2016. the band officially reformed, signed to Relapse Records and unveiled a new line-up that later reverted to a four-member band.
In 2017. Sacred was released, the band's first album after a break of more than twenty years.
Finally, the line-up settled: Wino, Brian Costantino, Chris Angleberger and Jason Taylor. This led to 2024. from the Gilded Sorrow album released with Ripple Music. Wino himself called this album one of his hardest and most complete works.
