MARO is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer from Lisbon, Portugal. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in Boston, she began her musical career in 2018 by releasing five albums and one EP. She later joined Jacob Collier’s “DJESSE World Tour” as a band member. During this time, MARO opened for artists such as Jessie J, Gipsy Kings, Charlotte Cardin and The Paper Kites.
In 2020, she launched “ITSAME, MARO!” – a 100-episode collaborative series with artists from all over the world, including Eric Clapton, Pablo Alborán, Lizzy McAlpine, Ivan Lins, Vitor Kley, ANAVITÓRIA, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Maria Gadú, Mayra Andrade, Rui Veloso and Lennon Stella.
In 2022, MARO won Festival da Canção and represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “saudade, saudade”, which reached the Top 10. She later released the album “can you see me?”, blending pop, trap, world and folk influences.
In April 2023, MARO released “hortelã” – an acoustic trio album recorded with Catalan guitarists Darío Barroso and Pau Figueres. Performed mostly in Portuguese, the album received the José Afonso Award as the best Portuguese album of the year.
After the collaborative EP “PIRILAMPO” with NASAYA, they released the album “LIFELINE” in 2024, revealing a new, more electronic direction in MARO’s music.
Over the past three years, MARO has been actively touring around the world – both with her acoustic trio and electronic duo – playing to full rooms. She has shared major stages with Odesza and Parcels, and also opened for Shawn Mendes on his summer arena tour.
With her new album “SO MUCH HAS CHANGED” – a brighter, more energetic chapter in her sound – MARO begins a new creative phase and, in 2026, will present a full-band live show to audiences around the world for the first time.
