Dakhabrakha (Ukraine)
Dakhabrakha is a creative freedom from Ukraine that combines a urban avant -garde with Ukrainian folk art. The band does not make music as much as it makes it. Their concerts are reminiscent of a ritual in which folklore, shamanic rhythms and theater performance blend into one hypnotic stream. This group is like a voice of Ukraine from the parallel world that speaks with ancient sound, but with the 21st century. I sound.
In Ukraine itself, they are a cult phenomenon, and in the world they have appeared in more than five hundred concerts and performances, participated in many festivals, including Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, Sxsw, Sziget and others.
Dakhabrakha's musical geography is very wide. Although in their hearts they are deeply Ukrainian, their sound sounds as if they were born around India's deserts, African jungle and Middle East cities. This is not accidental - a group deliberately involves ethnic instruments from all over the world to their work, but never loses connection with its roots. They play Australian DJerid, Arabic workplace, dish tabla, and weave all these sounds into the Ukrainian vocal structure, which seems to not only sing but also communicate with something beyond. Dakhabrakha does not shy away from experiments: not only drums or cello, but also metal dishes, water buckets, even plastic pipes - all sounds are a potential expression on stage.
Such an audible collage allows them to sound global, but never in an unhappy. They do not try to "hit fashion", but rather create their own. In addition, you will not name their music in the context of the World Music, which is commonly seen at Western festivals - they refuse to be "an exotic nation." On the contrary, they show that Ukraine is not the periphery and the center from which a strong cultural impulse can spread.

Currently, when Ukraine is experiencing historical challenges, Dakhabrakha concerts have become a form of cultural resistance. They do not shout the slogans, but send a sound that penetrates deeper. Music that does not belong to time but talks about now.
