About the program "Reflections":
The concert program invites listeners to travel through three cultural spaces of Western Europe: works by Lithuanian composers - Zita Bružaitė, Balis Dvarion, Diana Čemerytė - Ukrainian piano music - Viktor Rekal and Sergeius The work of Juškevich and the luminaries of classical music - Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Mauric Ravel.
The narrative of the program begins with the "Moonlight" sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). , which repeatedly inspired composers of later generations to reflect and reflect the spirit of this sonata in their works. You will hear the mentioned Beethoven Sonata and after it - the work "BeMoon" by Zita Bružaitė (b. 1966), which is a reminiscence and reflection of Beethoven's music. The program continues with the music of Franz Schubert (1797-1828), one of the pioneers of the impromptu genre. Schubert wrote several impromptu sets during his short life. The "Reflections" program will also feature the premiere of the piece "Attire" by cellist and composer from Ukraine Viktor Rekal (b. 1986), dedicated to Marija Mirovska and specially created for this concert. Balis Dvarion's (1904-1972) Impromptu for piano, inspired by the best traditions of romanticism, recalls the motifs of Schubert's music, but in the context of a completely different, more dramatic era. "Small Ukrainian Suite" by the Ukrainian pianist and composer Serge Yushkevitch (b. 1953) is four folk songs of different character and dramaturgy, virtuosically adapted for the piano. The miniature "Tyliai" by Diana Čemerytė (b. 1974) becomes the subtle culmination of the concert program. Listening to this play, one can imagine that we are watching the flashes of stars coming from the distant space, the same stars that are no longer there. In the finale of the concert, a kind of antithesis of the play "Silently" sounds - "Alborada del gracioso" by Mauric Ravel (1875-1937) from the piano cycle "Reflections" - as a joyful hymn to life and love.
Music written for the piano is not meant to languish in a museum, these pieces continue to live in the musical space thanks to the constant interpretation of modern composers. Therefore, without historical classical music, there would be no contemporary music. With the "Reflections" concert, pianist Marija Mirovskaja aims to highlight these connections, building time bridges between already recognized and constantly changing concepts of classics.
