The city of Kaunas began to be built at the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris more than 600 years ago. years. The current old town, which Kaunas is proud of, is the place where the history of the city began. Until now, many impressive architectural monuments can be seen here, which are witnesses of the most important events of Kaunas and Lithuania. We will start the excursion from the oldest object - the brick castle of Kaunas, commemorating the times of Vytautas the Great. We will also visit the dungeons of Kaunas Castle. In the former market square (Town Hall Square) we will learn the story of how Kaunas became a real city with the rights of Magdeburg. During the excursion, we will also see the territory of the old port, walk along a street that you will not find on the current map of the city, and at the end we will visit the largest Gothic church in Lithuania.
