Let's discover a place where a vanished world comes to life again.

"Disappeared shtetl" is one of the most modern and sensitive museums in Lithuania, where the history of the Jews of Šeduva becomes a gateway to a wider view of the entire heritage of Lithuanian Jewish culture and life.

This excursion is an experiential journey to the past, where history speaks with sounds, smells, touches and real people testimonies. A living story about how the Jewish communities lived awaits you: what they believed in, what they created and what dreams accompanied their everyday life.

The Šeduva Jewish History Museum "The Disappeared Shtetl" was originally created as a memorial to local Jews, but over the years it has grown into a museum of the history of all Lithuanian Jews. The whole world of Lithuanian shtetls is revealed here as an example of one town - Šeduva. Before the Second World War, there were more than 200 such towns, but today none of them remain.

The museum uses authentic photos, documents, maps of the town, scents and sound installations, and the memories of Šeduva's Jewish descendants are heard in video testimonies. All of this helps to restore the world that history destroyed, but which returns today as an important lesson of memory and humanity.

During the tour we will talk about the most important aspects of Jewish history, culture, religion, we will dive into everyday life, dreams, we will not avoid the circumstances of death and, of course, we will honor the memory.
