The Museum of Church Heritage invites you to see off the old years together. December 31 1 p.m. the festive exhibition "There was and is. Opening tour of Vilnius Benedictines".
The new exhibition is designed to present more than 400 years ago. Located in Vilnius and flourishing, one of the oldest women's monasteries, dating back to the 6th century.
Exhibits of the exhibition reflect the external and internal aspects of the life of the Benedictines of Vilnius from their establishment and prosperity to the tragic fate of the 20th century, which divided the community and its heritage. For the first time, the collection of St. St. Catherine's Church paintings, liturgical vessels, library values, exhibited photos reflecting the moments of holidays and everyday life. Presenting a wonderful set of 12 reliquaries, a combination of careful Benedictine handiwork and prayer. Impressive exhibits of the exhibition - 17th century. help the portrait of the abbess Konstancija Tyzenhauzaitė, which entered the National Museum in Warsaw, and the unique pastoral of the abbess, preserved in Vilnius, is exhibited next to it. It tells about St. St. Catherine's Church - in the exhibition you can see some of the surviving paintings by Simon Čechavičius and his students, exhibited in the normally closed part of the museum - in the corridor surrounding the cloister.
Celebratory tour of the exhibition opening on December 31. 1 p.m. free of charge. The exhibition will run until 2025. April 23rd.
