"Mermaid" is a movement and voice piece that explores the multi-layered nature of female emotions through the image of a mermaid. In myths, the mermaid is often depicted as a dangerous, seductive and destructive creature, but this work aims to look at her differently - as a multi-layered personality whose actions stem from inner contradictions and unspoken experiences. The work raises the question: what lies behind seduction, aggression or detachment? Here, seduction is revealed as a desire for love and closeness, anger as a reaction to fear, and anxiety as an expression of loneliness. The mermaid becomes a figure who acts one way on the outside, but experiences something completely different on the inside. It reflects the constantly changing, contradictory and difficult to define inner states of a woman. Through movement, voice and ritual actions - pouring water, eating algae, repeating the words ocean thoughts - a multi-layered character is gradually created. Constant eye contact with the viewer and tense body shapes allow you to experience different emotional states and their changes up close. The work invites you not to evaluate, but to observe and reflect: what lies behind one or another emotion, behind a strong, vulnerable, seductive or anxious female figure? In myths, the mermaid is often described as a soulless water creature - dangerous, causing storms, tempting to doom, evil and hostile to humans. But this work asks: What does she really feel? What does she want? Why do you do exactly that? Maybe behind all this lies the unknown, fear, loneliness and the resulting rash decisions. What does it mean to be her? Urtė Siniauskaitė is a dance artist and performer from Lithuania. in 2025 she completed her bachelor's studies in contemporary dance at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater. During her studies, she worked with famous Lithuanian and foreign artists, such as: Pietro Marullo, Alban Richard, Elina Pirinen, Agnietė Lisičkinaitė, Aira Naginevičiūtė. In her artistic practice, she is interested in intimacy, human inner world, emotions and their subtle rendering through movement, paying attention to details. "Be kompanijos" is an independent contemporary dance organization acting as a platform for production and creative development. The organization focuses on supporting contemporary choreographers in Lithuania and in the international context, contributing to the emergence of new works, their dissemination and visibility.
