What if all life is just a game and we are its characters?
Luxembourg choreographer Jill Crovisier presents a performance in which eight dancers from all over the world turn into living archetypes on stage: Batman, a football player, a casino hostess, an elf, a cowboy horse rider - all of them play, compete, rebel together. Visually bright, ironic, full of humor and unexpected twists, this performance equally affects those who have never seen the dance, as well as those who know it well.
Critics in Luxembourg called it "this season's best performance" and "a masterpiece of choreography that dissects human nature with surgeon's precision." The premiere at the Grand Theater in Luxembourg was sold out.
The only performance in Lithuania, during the Aura 36 International Dance Festival, in Kaunas.
What if society was just a stage – and the roles we play, a game we never signed up for?
In THE GAME – GRAND FINALE, Luxembourg-based choreographer Jill Crovisier stages a sharp, ironic, and emotionally charged reflection on the systems that shape our lives. With a cast of eight performers from across the globe and rooted in three years of international research, the piece unfolds as a choreographic theater of avatars: recognizable, exaggerated, and eerily human.
Crovisier's work moves with the precision of contemporary dance, the bite of social critique, and at times, the theatrical flair of a Bob Fosse mood – stylized gestures, glittering absurdity, and a wink at the audience. There's tension, beauty, and anger in the movement, but also a deep tenderness: a loving gaze towards the mundane things that make us continue.
Told through a distinctly female lens and emerging from a feminist dramaturgy, THE GAME - GRAND FINALE asks how we perform ourselves - in public, in private, in crisis. It's Shakespeare's "all the world's a stage," rewritten for our current moment of fragmentation, spectacle, and soft rebellion.
One performance only during the festival in Kaunas.
