STRIPPER is an autobiographical contemporary dance solo performance about the body as a workplace, political field and creative instrument. The project was born from more than a decade of Ieva Navickaitė's experience in the field of "sex work" and the parallel development of her career as a contemporary dance creator, existing between the theater stage and an erotic nightclub. Grounded in transfeminist and queer philosophy, the piece explores the relationship between purchased intimacy, bodily autonomy, and power, rejecting both moralization and romanticization. The body here is understood as agentic, changing and intersectional – operating at the intersection of economics, politics and imagination.
STRIPPER consciously flirts with academic language, but conveys it through humour, irony and personal experience. It is a politically conscious, but very personal work that invites not to judge, but to rethink - who looks, who evaluates and who has the right to define the body and its choices.
Surprise after the performance. It is red, sweet and slightly effervescent. We invite you to experience it.
