"I don't know if I'm from this world or another..." - Adomas Mickevičius, poet, born near Naugarduks, grew up in the lands of Lithuania, wrote "Vēlines" based on the same ritual we still remember today: in November we light candles, remember those who are gone, invite them at least for a while to return - because we still long for them.
Nine dancers stay with you throughout the evening - their movement opens up a space where time intertwines and those who are gone seem to reappear. At one point, the border between the viewer and the participant simply disappears.
Why is it worth coming? Because "Vēlinės" is not a history lesson, but an opportunity to experience what our culture has been remembering for centuries: a meeting with those who are no longer there. The choreographer transforms this text by Mickevičius into a live, modern stage event - movement, light, common presence.
Dramaturg - Teresa Fazan. Nine amazing performers of the Polish Dance Theater are on stage.
