Are children doomed to repeat the lives of their parents, or can they break out of the generational vicious circle? A modern retelling of perhaps the most popular Lithuanian fairy tale "Eglė Žalčių karalienė", which reveals the relationship between mother Eglė and daughter Drebulė. This is a story about the courage to be yourself and the ability to find yourself again when lost.
"A dark figure appears in the corridor of an underwater palace. It holds a candle. The light from the candle reflects on the wet stone walls. The figure moves confidently, so it does not make a sound. She reaches the stairs, climbs them, opens the lid in the ceiling and gets out to the surface of the island. She runs to the other side of the island, where the boat is already waiting for her..."
In a live performance, the narrator Milda Varnauskaitė weaves together Lithuanian mythology and folklore with an original interpretation of the tale. With her words, Milda creates a rich world of images in which the secrets of Žaltis Palace are revealed.

Milda Varnauskaitė is a professional oral storyteller and storytelling teacher. Milda appears as a storyteller at various events in Lithuania and abroad, sharing autobiographical, folklore, historical stories and their mixes, often presented with a touch of comedy. Amsterdam International Storytelling Festival, MIX UP Festival in Paris, FESTival in Svendborg, Denmark, Terschelling Oerol Arts Festival in the Netherlands are just a few of the many places where Milda has narrated.
