Musical performance for children "Owl Drulija and yawns"
Part 2
The adventures of the owl Drulija continue! "Pelėda Drūlija ir žiovuliukai" is the second series of the musical performance "Pelėda Drūlija" by the ensemble "Lietuva", inviting you to playfully dive into the kingdom of dreams and sleep. Since this character has become so popular and loved by children, and the first part of the performance received a lot of positive feedback, there was no doubt - just like the therapeutic books, Drūlija's story on stage deserves a sequel. A new program for the whole family is being created based on Inga Narijauskienė's fairy tale "Owl Drūlija ir yavuliukai". In the second episode, you will hear about Owl's day, when she decided that sleep interferes with the game and is no longer necessary, because how much can you do without sleep. So Drūlija decides not to sleep anymore and goes to the forest to collect mushrooms. Here she meets her friends, characters already familiar to children - Umb the squirrel, Taputapa the elephant, Magaga the duck and the genies, who tell about their sleep rituals, what to do when you can't sleep because you're really looking forward to your birthday, or you don't sleep because you had a strange dream and you don't want to dream it again. Finally, Drūlija falls asleep, and when she wakes up, she realizes that it is sleep that allows us to play or do many fun and entertaining things, so she thanks her body for letting her know when she is tired.
Owl Hoot and the Yawns is a story that develops a healthy relationship with your body and helps you better understand the importance of rest, while offering ways for children to calm down and fall asleep more easily, because sleep is a real pleasure. Therefore, the purpose of the owl in the story of this performance is to develop the skills of the little ones to fall asleep on their own, to present sleep as a wonderful friend, to invite them to create their own sleep rituals and to tell them what to do after having an unpleasant dream. In this "Lietuvos" performance, even two new characters will join - the duck Magagas and the frog Pompocė. Adventures in the forest will sound very Lithuanian: you will hear such Lithuanian national instruments as birbynė, kanklės, lumzdelis, skrabalai. And Lithuanian national games and the sensitive and magical relationship with nature for all of us Lithuanians will be embedded in the story itself. By fostering Lithuanian folk art, we aim to develop the identity of the young generation in a relevant and inspiring way - what our grandparents and parents grew up with, we grew up with and our children will grow up with. Ensemble Lietuva has been carrying out this mission for a long time - to introduce children to national art. And not only with performances for children, but also with educations, to which a large part of Lithuanian schools come. And the appearance of this Owl is special, I knew the writer Ingas Narijauskienė very well, because together with my daughter I attended her classes for toddlers. While raising her son Pijas, Inga started telling stories about Owl Drūlija, so the character's stories have been told for more than twenty years. The play is also carried out a lot at home - mine, raising my daughter, Inga, raising my son, and Pius himself, raising his son," says the director, Giedrė Kriaučionytė-Vosylienė, who works in the Lietuvos ensemble. The premiere performance of the "Lietuva" ensemble was successfully presented in 2024. December in Vilnius, Kaunas and later in Marijampole. Traditionally, performances intended for children's classes and groups are also invited to come to the premises of the "Lietuva" ensemble. The first performance "Pelėda Drūlija" is based on one of I. Narijauskienė's fairy tales "How the Pelėda Drūlija searched for patience". "The themes come with personal experiences. I always create about what I myself feel and experience. The upcoming second series will touch on the topic of listening to your body - when you want to do everything, predict a lot, and you stop listening, when your body says NO - it's time to rest. This is relevant for both children and adults - a positive attitude towards rest. It's fun when children come to performances already knowing the literature itself, having read books, this in the case of Pelėda Drūlija. I remember it was very nice in Marijampolė, when after the performance the child brought Drūlija and Taputapa made of cardboard, fabrics, buttons - so creatively created - and gave them to the actors," says G. Kriaučionytė. "On the first day of the premiere in Vilnius, the play was shown three times in a row, and all three times the hall was full. Later, I watched the musical in Kaunas, Marijampole, and Vilnius Keistuolii Theater - the halls were also full of children everywhere. It's a really impressive experience. I personally like the play very much, and the audience leaves the performances with the biggest smiles, elated. And small, and very small, and big. After the play, many warm feedback. There is another very important and wonderful thing - I can see with what love and joy all the creators of this performance work. It is a great pleasure to see that the musical "Pelėda Drūlija" is liked by the whole team of "Lietuva" and that it is danced, played, sung, conducted, and organized with great desire. If adults play happily on stage and invite their children to their game, and the children look on wildly, applaud and rejoice, - could it be better?", writer Inga shares her impressions. Pelėda Drūlija is a character created by the creator of therapeutic stories I. Narijauskienė, who was written down and released to live her own separate authentic life only much later, when the Lithuanian author became an early childhood education specialist and grandmother. Drulija's stories are fun and engaging stories that help children grow, so children quickly identify with the characters, develop their imagination, and strengthen their emotional and social intelligence.
