Kutkaitė, who is creating a provocative work about school, says that the theater is a grateful place to rethink the approach to education. In this work, as in the previous ones, she combines a philosophical view with humor, uses social criticism, devised dramaturgy* and tragicomic images born during improvisations with actors.
Before starting rehearsals with the actors, Kutkaitė went to various Lithuanian high schools and spent the day in classes together with students of grades 9-11. Creators also draw inspiration from ideas and stories submitted by teachers and students. They say that everyone will be able to identify with their school experiences, both painful and the most idiotic.
"Teach me" asks what kind of society is the current school shaping? What are the similarities between a school and a factory? Can we consider ourselves factory products? Where to draw the line between education and indoctrination? Do we as a society want to establish a culture of obedience and submission, or do we dare to imagine a future where education is truly liberating?
"Teach me" invites viewers to spend an unusual "day at school" together.
