Dance performance "Indigo. Das Schliemann Projekt" is a story about an (un)achievable dream, a passionate and fierce pursuit of a goal, truth and lies, created image and reality, and an endless search for the true self, a kind of self-archaeology.
in 2022 the creators of the play won three Golden Stage Crosses: for choreography, for costumes and scenography, and for light design.
The play was inspired by the 19th century. colorful and contrasting biography, personality and history of the discovery of Troy by businessman, polyglot, discoverer of historic Troy Heinrich Schliemann.
In 2022, Klaipėda celebrated the 770th anniversary of the founding of the city anniversary, and Europe - the 200th anniversary of the birth of Heinrich Schliemann, the discoverer of one of the cradles of its origin, who started the excavations of Troy.
It can be assumed that the ancient Klaipėda, or rather its port, also contributed to the discovery of the settlements from which European civilization is derived today.
1853 after the start of the Crimean War and the blockade of the ports of the Russian Empire, all Russian exports were routed through Klaipėda, as well as imports. So the goods of H. Schliemann, who traded with the Russian Empire at that time, also ended up here. Her huge cargo, consisting mainly of indigo dye powder and other materials needed for war, was perhaps the only one left untouched by fire during the 1854 war. The Great Fire that devastated Klaipėda. So H. Schliemann doubled his capital thanks to this incredible coincidence. Not only did he avoid bankruptcy, but he also became quite rich. A couple of decades later, he could afford to fulfill his old dream - to discover Troy and prove that it existed not only in Homer's verses.
Important: during the performance there is intense light and sound installations are used, the effects of which may affect people who are more sensitive or have epilepsy. The show is not recommended for children under 7 years old. The scenography ("blue ash") of the play is not a toy. Make sure that the child does not get on the stage and do not get them into the mouth or respiratory tract. Our experience shows that the ashes are safe and fall only near the stage and do not reach the audience. We recommend wearing face masks for added protection.
