"Anna Karenina" is a performance legend. Since the premiere, which took place in 2010 in the a|ch theater, "Anna Karenina" went a very short and memorable way. More than 100 performances were performed.
Gaining sincere sympathy from the audience, this performance left an indelible mark on the Lithuanian dance theater scene. In 2011, the choreographer of the performance was awarded the "Golden Cross of the Stage", and "Anna Karenina" became an opportunity for the audience to relive a great and fragile love story, awakening the feelings of even the most reserved person. The most loyal spectators of the performance come to experience this story again and again, 4-5 or even the sixth time.
L. Tolstoy, while writing the novel "ANA KARENINA", spoke for the first time about a woman's right to happiness and about the fact that a woman should not become a tool for a man's self-love and satisfaction, but this is only one of the themes that choreographer Anželika Cholina explores in her 2-part work of the same name in a dance performance.
"When I met Beata Molytė, the ballet soloist of the Klaipėda Musical Theater, I realized - this is my Ana" - says A. Cholina, whose discovery of the ballerina in the main role encouraged her to stage this performance.
The scenery of the performance set designer Marijus Jacovskis created the costumes and make-up by Juozas Statkevičius, so the performance leaves the audience with great aesthetic satisfaction.
The music of the play is composed by the composer Alfredo Šnitke. The work of this composer is very diverse, deep, and conveys many emotions, which is why it is perfect for all the scenes of the performance.
"While creating, I do not seek to frame my performances in any genre, I am interested in creating life itself on stage. The full, multi-layered life that L. Tolstoy talks about in his novel "Anna Karenina". He weaves so much into it that one can get lost, as if against the complexity of life itself. I tried to purify what seemed important to me and what exists in the present time" - says A. Cholina.
