Based on true events, this timeless tale is based on Maria von Trapp's memoir, The Trapp Story of the Singing Family. The main character of the work, Marija, is determined to become a nun, but her love of music and her acquaintance with the large Trapai family make her reflect on her vocation. , Georg von Trapp's children will be played by the students of the Panevėžys Music School and the Vytautas Mikalauskas Arts Gymnasium.

In 2018, "Sounds of Music" was revived in the Panevėžys Music Theater by director Nerijaus Petrokos and the initiative of conductor Vidmantas Kapučinskas. One of the most important goals of this production is to give the young generation an unforgettable musical experience. N. Petrokas assures that this musical has inspired many young people to choose a path in life: "It has happened that the children who participated in the performance then choose the path of a singer or musician, theater.
