"Although the performance talks about disability, after all, neither the creative team nor the audience can see the disability - they only see the most implications, the free people who celebrate their existence, their birth, their own life," says director Kamile Gudmonaitė.
The creators of "Festival" are producing such a performance by a clear feeling that disability is still an invisible category of society. In order to understand it, it is necessary to approach both theater and the audience to look at it, trying to look at its essence, observing what people with disabilities themselves think about disability as a phenomenon. In the performance, the creators seek to naked the concept of normality and to raise the question of the potential diversity of human existence, the diversity of the senses and experiences.
"The creative process was not easy - however, talking about disability is not common or bold, especially in Lithuania. It took time to open to dare to talk about very sensitive and subtle things. The whole process most revealed to me that although the performance talks about disabilities, neither the creative team nor the audience - Director K. Gudmonaitė tells about challenges and discoveries.
