In 1995, director Joseph Vilsmaiers made a film based on "Sleep Brother", Herbert Willis staged an opera, a ballet was staged at the Phalztheater, and the book is still a source of inspiration for performances.

According to the director of the play Adam Juška, "Sleep Brother" is a performance about a particularly sensitive person - Johannes Elijah Alder, about his relationship with love, music and death. About a person who lives, feels and finally dies without any compromises. About a person who is able to perceive music immediately, sensually, and at the same time is able to accept and hear the world around him as music. Maybe it is not possible in reality, but I want to create about the impossible. About impossible sensitivity, impossible love. It is not for nothing that Elias plays the organ in the piece, and not another instrument - the purpose of the organ has always been religious and spiritual. And human life and destiny sometimes obey more the laws of music. Every person "plays" a certain piece with his life, thoughts, and actions.
