The novel about the catastrophe of World War II, which has a grandiose scope and ignited sharp discussions among writers, historians, sociologists and cultural researchers, is interpreted on the theater stage by one of the most prominent Ukrainian director Sergejus Loznica, one of the modern European filmmakers.

"Erinija" is an attempt to look at the Holocaust and the crimes of Nazi Germany in a new way, telling the story of World War II in a different way usual, from the lips of many victims of Nazi and other war crimes, but from the perspective of the executioner, a direct participant and executor of the crimes.

At the epicenter of the play is a fictitious SS officer and a forensic Ph.D. Figure of Maximilien Aue. During the war, he took part in actions to kill Jews on the Eastern Front, and today he is an ordinary French bourgeois, the owner of a lace factory. He is also an intellectual interested in philosophy, literature, classical music, and a cold-blooded killer, one of the cogs of the ruthless Nazi bureaucratic killing machine.

One ​​can only sympathize with a person who faces in certain circumstances of life which turn him into a wild beast. Unfortunately, nothing happened in his life to make him act differently. You know, not all cultures have a harakiri tradition. In fact, this character somewhat resembles Faust. His life path is interesting, his story encourages us to think about a person. Any war also encourages us to think about man and his situation. It's a terrible and repulsive experience, but in order to prevent this experience from returning, we need to rethink it, says the director of the performance Sergejus Loznica.
