It is no coincidence that the 74th season of the Lithuanian Russian Drama Theater in 2019 September 20 will begin with J. Vaitkaus' premiere play "The Thirteenth Apostle, or Cloud in Pants" based on Vladimir Mayakovsky's work. The director defines the genre of the future performance as "futuristic metamorphosis and farewell concert", inspired by the early poetry of the great lyricist, classic of Russian and world literature V. Mayakovsky (1893 - 1930) and three poems: "Mayakovsky. Tragedy", 1913, "Cloud with trousers", 1914, "Flute - spine", 1915. It is symbolic that the work of the great poet returns to the stage of the LRDT after more than 50 years - the last time the director staged V. Mayakovsky's "The Bug" in our theater Leonidas Lurje in 1962.

The distinctive style of the poet V. Mayakovsky was formed at the intersection of complex and dramatic art searches of the 20th century. The avant-garde literature and art currents of that time claimed to create futurism art of the future - denying and scorning the culture of the past, traditional norms of social life, extolling the frenetic rhythm of industry and professing a real metropolitan cult. The poet's early lyrics are permeated with inner dualism, contradiction: the loneliness of the lyrical hero - and the inexorable longing of people, the power of art - and his inability to change the course of being, a negative attitude towards the current reality and the uncertainty of the future. The conflict between the lyrical hero and reality, which has permeated the structure of all the poems of V. Mayakovsky's futuristic period, becomes particularly relevant and recognizable in the context of the 21st century. " director J. Vaitkus gathered the entire troupe of actors from the LRDT and the artist Jonas Archikauskas, his partner in his legendary performances. According to the artist creating the scenography and costumes for the premiere performance: "Mayakovsky is not only relevant, but simply illustrative of our life today. Our society is dominated by caprice and the religion of money, and human relationships have become a caricature. We can read all this in Mayakovsky's poetry created a hundred years ago. In addition, we want to remind and exalt the concept of the poet's talent in the language of the theater. Even if we hate his lines, they still affect us. Talent, nation and idea - among these concepts, our play should appear."
