Tango Furioso is a performance that intertwines elements of traditional and contemporary tango. The choreography reflects both the classic tango and modern interpretations of this dance that give tango culture a new breath. It is not just a show for yourself, it is a story of an emotional journey that invites viewers to turn into a tango world where feelings are expressed in body language rather than words.
"Tango is a dance with all the power of life: from deep melancholy to joyous triumph, gentle love to uncontrolled passion, but the best news about Tango is that it never ends," says Vilnius Tango Theater and choreographer Sigitas Repšys.
The word "Furioso" in Spanish means "furious," says Alexis Gonzalez, a choreographer and one of the theater director, but the word is not necessarily negative. There may also be a creative force, a storm that clears, brings fresh air, dispels old emotions and prepares a place for new ones. Our performance "Tango Furioso" aims to convey this feeling - it is energetic, intense, full of life and passion, and every movement, every musical note is saturated with this powerful energy we want to convey to the viewers. Each dancer gives part of his self to the characters they create, so the Tango Furioso is so unique. We are not just about replicating traditions, we create something new inspired by old roots, but modern and alive, ”says the tango show makers.
