Director Oskars Koršunovas: "Tartiuf is a modern-day "hero". A perfect matchmaker, a careerist, a pragmatist and a fornicator. This character stops at no means to achieve his goals. Of course, in the new play he will not pretend to be a saint; rather, he is a brilliant public relations specialist, well aware that there is no better tool to deceive the gullible than the morality he cynically manipulates. For him, hypocrisy and lies are just creating an image, and getting rich at the expense of others is a proof of strength and superiority. Tartiufs always profess the relevant "religion". In Molière's time, they were in the Church, in the Soviet era - in the party, and now they are where Mammon is: in banks, politics, etc. i.e. They are always ideologically correct and manage to wrap the worst deeds in the clothes of the most beautiful words. The global financial crisis is a consequence of Tartufism. This comedy is especially relevant today in Lithuania, where Tartufism is simply flourishing.

In the new production, I do not intend to follow only classicist canons: there will be both textual and effective flashbacks. Molière himself dictates interesting production conditions. This author is sharp, relevant. No play in the world has ever caused such a scandal as Tartuffe. This is the first piece of drama that became an international event: it pitted one of the largest states against the most influential power, a mega-state – the Pope's Palace. In Lithuania, I see Tartufism not in the Church, but among modern officials, in modern politics, in modern business, where a lot of beautiful phrases are spoken, but corruption is hidden behind it all. How easily and cynically people are manipulated with the help of propaganda PR tools... This will be recognized in the play. Unfortunately, the next generation is no fairer. It is simply better prepared for this manipulation, which was particularly well revealed in the current liberal scandal. Liberals directly spoke about the fact that they are coming to destroy corruption, and they offered us the biggest cake of corruption, which we are now eating." 1 hour until the event
