The deportation of Lithuanian residents, whole families or individuals, to Siberia is one of the most painful experiences of our nation, which is being examined from a new point of view by the young generation director Eglė Švedkauskaitė, recently awarded "Golden cross of the stage".

"This work of mine is a continuation of the consistent research of complex events in the history of Lithuania. It is an attempt to travel deeper under the facts in search of in what forms the subject of exile lives in the consciousness of Lithuanians living today and how exile still shapes our character. Does it still cause pain, or maybe it has transformed?" - thinks E. Švedkauskaitė.

The play features a family of four. The son is studying cinema abroad and after receiving a task to create a documentary film at the academy, he begins to delve into his family's history. The father is not very willing to share his memories, but when the family receives a call from the museum that a manuscript of his father's aunt's memories of exile in Siberia has been discovered, the family story begins to unfold on its own. and real facts: 1991 In Žaliakalni, Kaunas, Perkūnos al. 60 was a jar that was accidentally dug up, in which were found separate leaves with Dalia Grinkevičiūtė's memories about Siberia. That manuscript was considered lost, because Grinkevičiūtė herself tried to look for it several decades ago, but could not find it. The excavated relic revives the themes of the past.

"In this performance, we aim to portray the desire of us, young people, to talk to our parents as openly as possible, to analyze their experiences and how it affected us. We are considered a therapeutic generation that is eager to talk and resolve our relationship with our parents. It is probably quite natural that we, who have grown up in a world of open sharing, democratic order and technology, want to ask very openly, which not all older people like and sometimes even turns into confrontation. The relationship with the parents is very important in this play. That's why three generations work in it, in order to analyze exile not as an accident that happened to someone a long time ago, but as an intergenerational trauma that travels from generation to generation," says the director of the play "Fossilia".
