START: Marius REPŠYS
"Those special people belong for two very different categories: famous people, heroes and geniuses and on the other hand the sick, the retarded, the unstable and the fallen. But no matter how great this contradiction is, no matter how strange this fact seems at first glance, it must be recognized that the fate of these people and their position in society have a lot in common."
Nikolajus Krainskis
Marius Repšys is one of the most famous actors of the Lithuanian National Drama Theater. He played Vandal in "Išvary", Lauryna in "The Cathedral" and many other memorable roles, won the highest theater and film awards.
For the past few years, Marius Repšys has been appearing on screens and in the press pages not only as a creator of theater and film roles, but also as a person struggling with universal problems familiar to many. The actor speaks bravely and openly about the depression and psychotic episodes that have plagued him since childhood.
Are artistic talent and mental problems two sides of the same coin? Does acting - and creativity in general - not only reward, but also injure, and then draw strength from the wounds? If so, how to reduce that damage and is it necessary to do it?
In this performance, the audience is invited to spend time with the actor. To be very close. To embark on a journey deep into the subconscious, into the inner cosmos, drinking from the springs of memory, fighting with shadows, having fun with souls, searching for one's god.
Marius Repšys is an actor, so he will play on stage. But how to play yourself? Or maybe we don't do anything else at all, maybe our "I" is just a set of constantly changing roles, adapted to different circumstances? Then you can ask another way: is it possible not to play yourself? How many masks do we have to take off to finally see ourselves?
In these questions, as in the performance, theater is intertwined with life. But the theater is a place where madness is allowed, and in life we tend not to recognize it. The creative team of the play believes that life has something to learn from the theater here.
