"Those who do not remember the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them." (George Santayana) "Land of Rain" - biographical improvisations, with the voices and bodies of the actors sitting in a circle, talking about the events of the first half of the 20th century that left the greatest impression on the history of Lithuania. Interrelated stories of people who lived between and after the war, lived by the grandparents, relatives or complete strangers of the creators of the performances, reveal the complex choices of ordinary Lithuanians who found themselves in a merciless political situation and the daily struggle to remain human. "Land of Rain" does not indulge in accusations or politicized polemics - the play touches on Lithuania's past through fragmentary fragments of life stories, woven into a soft, non-flamboyant patriotism and subtlety of the whole of the play.
The stories of real people who once lived and are recreated and interpreted by the actors on stage are born from small details, sounds, glances or even authentic objects that allow the viewer to feel even closer to the living and breathing past. Human joys and difficulties, happy and unhappy love stories, mutual relationships and experiences - elements of the being of every person and nation, indelible even in the face of the greatest repressions and political changes - "In the Land of Rain" merge into a sensitive and personal non-textbook history lesson. Premiere - 2011 11 30 Sponsor of the performance is the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. in 2012 at the festival "Lietuvos teatrų pavasaris'12" the performance "Land of Rain" was chosen by the audience as the best performance on the small stage. 2012 the play was nominated for the "Golden Cross of the Stage" award for the best national dramaturgy.
