★★★★★★ This is not Romeo and Juliet is a refreshing journey through the hottest universe of burning passion. Palle Granhøj revealed the personal and highly skilled expressions of the participants in exceptional and rare features, creating a whole that exudes desire and life-affirmation, while at the same time hiding something explosively dangerous ("Kirsten Dahl, Denmark, Ph.d, playwright and critic)
★★★★★ The show displays a veritable wealth of dazzling technical variation and artistic mastery. Six performers, both young and experienced, dance and play with raw and powerful commitment. A love to die for is depicted with humor and real feelings of passion and suffering... This is not Romeo and Juliet can be seen as a grand tribute to life, art, love and country. (Iscene, Denmark, Dorte Grannov Balslev)
★★★★★ This is not Romeo and Juliet is a stunning performance. It is a work by Granhøj that pays homage to the necessity of love, humanity, the body, sexuality and community. Applause goes to the raw, open portrayal and deep kinesthetic sense of the dancers…as well as the dramatic foundation, cohesion and harmony of the music, and the biggest applause to the theme and its relevance with which the performers take over the stage. ("Kulturnyt", Denmark, Lita Domino)

About
This is not Romeo and Juliet aims to go beyond the well-known narrative of the classic story, to offer a unique and enriched perspective. Unlike the traditional representation, the performance presents not only a youthful, but also a mature and "musical" couple, combining the artistry of four dancers and two musicians.
The essence of the work is music - a dynamic combination of motifs of famous compositions related to history and lively performance Featuring works by Prokofiev, Mancini and Gounod, the show highlights the universal clash between deep love and painful death. Whether it is the passion of a young couple or the experience of a mature relationship, love occupies the most important place, but the dynamics between couples are constantly changing, which invites us to think about the complexity of human relationships.
The play explores people who are willing to die for love, theme, contemporary echoes emerge, reminiscent of the current war in Europe. We hope that audiences will naturally feel the parallels to these real-world events, adding to their experience of the show.
At its core, This Is Not Romeo and Juliet features exceptional dancers and internationally acclaimed star musicians. a masterfully executed dance performance that promises an immersive journey through a stormy landscape of emotions. We hope that the show will captivate the audience with its intensity and make you think about the enduring power of love even in the face of adversity.
Granhøj Dans is a Danish dance theater recognized on the international stage. "Granhoj Dans" productions are created by theater artistic director and choreographer Palle Granhøj in close cooperation with dancers and performers.
The starting point of each new stage production is the obstruction technique created by Palle Granhøj, which through over the last 35 years has allowed for the creation of about 35 original works. Based on the work method mentioned above, the choreographer reshapes the movements of the performers, using disruptive actions, revealing the inner layers of their personality, thereby drawing attention to the emotional state of the person. Instead of presenting dancers and choreography on stage, Palle Granhøj wants to present men and women - people - as they are: real, alive and complex.
Granhøj Dans Dance Theater already has been supported by the Danish Arts Foundation for many years, presents his works in more than 50 European, Asian and American countries, has won many prizes and awards, including four times awarded for the best dance performance of the year at the most important and largest Danish performing arts award, REUMERT PRISEN.
