What would we do if one day we were ruled by animals? How would our behavior change in such an unpredictable situation? One of the most famous Estonian directors Priitas Pedajas and Lithuanian actors Eglė Mikulionytė, Karolis Norvilas and Saulius Siparis are looking for answers to these questions, presenting a play based on the cult story "Popis and Huhu" by Friedebert Tuglas in the OKT/Vilnius City Theater. Here, one morning, an unexpected event happens, "turning" the chaotically tragicomic story: just after waking up, the owner leaves in an unknown direction and for an unknown time, leaving at home a dog that is extremely attached to him and a completely unpredictable monkey, who has been measuring the place of the owner of the house almost from the first moments. Here, two radically different poles intertwine - the dog as a symbol of loyalty, infinite attachment, the desire to obey, and unbridled anarchy, the desire to rule by any, even extreme means, manifested in the form of a monkey. Can we consider this work one of the dystopias of the 20th century, which became scenarios for the development of the worst regimes of yesterday? Or maybe this play is just about our time, when in the face of climate change and other global disasters, the end of the world no longer seems like a utopia? And finally, what is our position in this situation? Accept it and just watch it while writing off the word "destiny" or try to change something?
