Sayonakidori (from Japanese-Laktingala)-Oonomatopy landscape reveal in words.
Composer and work director Agnė Matulevičiūtė visited Nijō Castle during visits to Japan to get to know the architecture of this unique structure and its floors. The "nightingale floor" talks about the myth - it could have been a security system that helps to defend themselves against intruders, or simply a unrelated architectural mistake. The artist is interested in the fact that this myth is still written and told. Such duality opens up extremely wide and interesting contexts and themes to create a performance. Walking on the "Nightingal Floor" inspired the artist to create an audible composition for the building, playing it as a musical instrument, playing what is invisible, but heard and vice versa. It is a piece of music and dance, where performers will shape the audio fabric using their bodies and voices.
Musical Performance Themes stem from Japanese culture monitoring and its interpretation of the European phenomenon research. The sound technology of the nightingale corridor, used for protection, inspires the topics of offensive, defense and privacy. Safety here is both an inner state and a fear of world insecurity.
