"Travelers" is the third production of the Hungarian director Árpád Schilling at the Youth Theater. This time, the director gathered almost the entire theater troupe for joint work in order to create a play that tells about the history of the community of people who create the theater itself. About her journey through time as generations change. About what connects individuals to each other and what separates them. What disappears in the course of time, and what remains...
With this performance, I aim to emphasize the importance of a theater troupe, which is alive when it is constantly traveling. Through different historical periods, different styles, different topics, different audiences... Everyone also travels internally, spiritually. Experiencing constant renewal. Traveling for me means the need to be reborn. Don't give up. We have to keep moving and changing to stay alive.
We need something to unite us. More than fear and pride. Not the language, not the flag, not the story. Something more than that. We can be united by the realization that we exist for each other, we are people... A chorus in time and space. People in the struggle of interests and values. The more interests, the less values. And vice versa. The choir moves like a caravan. He goes forward, making sense of himself again and again. Because you need to live. And we have to sing. Why live if we can't sing freely?, asks Á. Schilling.
