The second premiere of the 62nd season of the Youth Theater is the play "Connections" (Polish: "Ślub") by Witold Gombrowicz, one of the pioneers of new Polish literature. a production directed by the young generation director Adomas Juška.
Jungtuvės is the dream of Henrik, a soldier at the front. In a dream, he returns home, only to find his former world deformed, devastated, distorted. The junction rite is his attempt to restore form to himself and the environment, but there is an eternal conflict between man and form.
Gombrowicz's play depicts exactly this conflict between man and form, which takes on increasingly strange, mysterious, playful forms in Henrik's dream. Henrik creates the dream, the dream creates Henrik, the event creates itself, people create each other. This dream is an expression of dehumanized human horror, but at the same time a mystery of human creative power, in which the mass of the future is held among the ruins of the past, says the director of the play A. Juška.
Witold Gombrowicz (1904 - 1969) is a Polish novelist of Lithuanian origin, author of dramatic works and essays, one of the most famous Polish post-war emigrants. writers. His texts are characterized by a strong philosophical charge, an exceptional text construction technique and play. Gombrowicz's relationship with the tradition of Polish literature, culture and history is complicated. The author did not seek to completely deny or renounce it, but he sought universality in his works, he expressed his critical relationship with history, literary fashions and clichés in his works using irony and grotesque.
He published a collection of short stories "Memories from the period of puberty" (1933), grotesque, expressive, ironic novels "Ferdydurkė" (1937), "Transatlantas" (1953), "Pornography" (1960), "Cosmos" (1965). The grotesque plays Ivona, Duchess of Burgundy (1938), Junctions (1953), Operette (1966) are considered avant-garde of Polish and world dramaturgy.
