The play "Son" by contemporary French playwright Florian Zeller is part of the trilogy that made him famous (the other two parts are "Father" and "Mother"). The playwright delves into sensitive and relevant topics of common family life, often hidden and stigmatized spiritual traumas. F. Zeller was inspired to create the play "Sūnus" by his personal experience - one of his sons was suffering from a mental illness. The playwright "Sūnuje" shares the emotions he experienced in order to help those experiencing them to feel that they are not alone.

According to the well-known Lithuanian film director Ignos Jonynas, who staged the play after an almost twenty-year hiatus, one of the essential themes of the work is how our ego balances not only us, but also those around us. In pursuit of his own happiness and goals, he can destroy the lives of others, even when he feels that he is a relatively moral person. Knowing how to co-exist and hold on to the dangerously moving scales of life so as not to catch and drop the one next to you is a difficult task in life.
