It is said that if there are good things that were driven by the First and Second World Wars, there are many talented "lost generation" writers whose painful experiences have come to the center of the 20th century. It is unlikely that we would find another novel that would talk about the war as satirically as it was done in the adventures of Czech writer Jaroslav Hashek "Happy Soldier Šveikas". Hashek's novel. In his first work, the young director chose several situations created by the author of the cult novel and sought to look at Laika as a man whose smile was not a mild laughter but a sharp resistance to power, war and the environment. In the performance, Šveiko's environment is a soldier's shooting range where he holds the target while the superior soldiers are training for shooting. Schweik smiles, the chaplain drinks, the soldier screams and shoots ... The director's goal is to reveal something true about each of them the idiotic existence.
Interesting story itself, how Hashek came up with this character: when he returned home, he was probably intoxicated (the author was famous for), wrote a statement on the character about the character he had invented. When he got up in the morning, he found his note on the leaflet: "The biggest idiot is the man who wants to go to the war." Of course, it must be borne in mind and historical context. Hashek is the Czech author. At that time, the Czech Republic was in the Austrian and Hungarian war, it was not at all, and it was not needed at all. So the Czech, who voluntarily would like to go to the war, serve the emperor and die for it must be the greatest idiot. So Laiko idiocy is also a very important topic. It is revealed by the humanity of this character. A person who is able to smile and joke during the war, says the performance director A. Juška.
