The performance will be accompanied by an exceptional artistic experiment - the theatrical trial of John Vingiai. The stage will become a courtroom for one evening, where the actors will be joined by professional judges, lawyers and prosecutors. Will the audience condemn or acquit Jonas Vingiai, who has become an archetypal image in the minds of Lithuanians? Or maybe the scales of Themis, the goddess of justice, will not withstand the deeds of Vinginia or daughter-in-law Katre?
"Marti" from Žemaitė is a work born in another era, in an environment of different laws, customs and social norms. At that time, legal responsibility was not applied for many of the actions of that time - that's how the system worked, that's how it was accepted to live.
Today, however, viewers are invited to take a new step: to transfer the situations of the well-known work to the courtroom. In order not to condemn the past, but to take a closer look at the present. Domestic violence, coercion, economic pressure, addiction, silent community acceptance of injustice - all of this, unfortunately, is not just history. These are problems that accompany us even today.
Literary court based on currently valid laws is an artistic and intellectual interpretation that highlights their timelessness.

The show reflects the creators' attempts to understand the 19th century. concepts of marriage, family, love and happiness and compare them with modern ones. The small theater "Marčia" does not depict the village household. However, the environment of the characters created by Vytautas Narbutos - the remains of an abandoned stadium - is imbued with both decaying houses and a haunted interior atmosphere. The play is full of stage symbolism and generalizations that create an almost surreal world. After arriving at Vingiai's house, Katrė falls into a real nightmare from which only death will be able to free her... "She did not want to illustrate the dirty, harsh household mentioned in Žemaitė's work. Especially since the author herself did not write completely realistically, rather she chose hyperbolization. The story metaphorically talks about what happens in people's heads. The problems lie in human attitudes, radicalism, unwillingness to understand others, changes in fear. This is the terrible household that oppresses the characters." - said the director Gabriele Tuminaitė.
