A year ago, director Oskars Koršunovas presented the first act of the play "Kantas" in the Vilnius State Small Theater. The sketch did not take long to attract the interest and sympathy of the audience. In the play "Kantas", the playwright continues the theme of historical figures in the Vilnius small theater. The work, together with the ever popular performances "Madagascar" and "Mistra", will become a kind of trilogy. After assembling an ensemble of talented actors well known to the audience, well-known director Oskars Koršunovas, who has created several great works together with Marios Ivaškevičius, staged the play in the Vilnius Small Theater for the first time.
The play takes us back to 1784. Kingdoms. November in Prussia. There is a feeling that society will go through significant social changes. The Great French Revolution is already filling the back. Following the usual ritual of eating a longer lunch in male company, the philosopher sits down to lunch. However, this time, the restless time in which and with which a person lives is getting in the way more than ever. The men's confusion is exacerbated by the intrusion of Phoebe, the niece of Kant's old friend. She comes from fog-covered Scotland and wants the philosopher to sign her "Critique of Pure Reason".
The play is dedicated to the environment of the philosopher Immanuel Kant, who surprised not only with his thinking, but also with his way of life. In his most famous work, Critique of Pure Reason, the philosopher set himself an almost impossible mission - to explore the limits of reason and create solid foundations for the science of metaphysics, which was considered necessary and inevitable in the world at that time. Exploring the possibilities of the mind with his mind, the philosopher creates one of the most impressive works in the history of human thought. Unlike the complex and confusing thinking of Kant, the performance presents the Kantian world in an engaging and witty way and even continues the philosopher's own project by "exploring" the dramatic form itself through dramatic means.
