Michail Durnenkov "DIVA" dir. Tadas Montrimas
One-part performance
Duration - hours. min.
Premiere - 2026 June 13.
Performance in Russian with Lithuanian subtitles
"Diva" is a psychological relationship drama full of unexpected twists and complex ethical choices. The main characters - SHE and HIM - are both victims and perpetrators. SHE is an actress, twenty years older than HIM, and HE is a journalist. When they meet, and in the confrontation with themselves, memories arise. Both promise each other to tell the truth. However, is there a way out of the labyrinth of memories?
Journalist Danielis comes to interview former movie star Linda Andersen. The heroes are approaching the painful truth. Linda spent her life running away from aging and loneliness, while Daniel was trapped in the snares of teenage hurt. Is there a way out? Maybe.
Our memory often plays tricks on us and past events pop up in our memory "with errors". And when the same story is told by two different people, comical and sensitive situations cannot be avoided.
Although the theme of the performance is serious and even a little sad, the form of the performance is playful and vital. The depth of the characters and the skill of the actors attract attention.
"Moral norms in our lives are constantly transforming: everyone could remember situations that were considered "norm" 20 or 30 years ago, but today they are unacceptable, even reprehensible. "Diva" is the story of two people who met by chance in the past. For one of them, a brief meeting is a teenage trauma that still haunts them, and for the other, it is an episode that has not even entered their memory. The play explores the limits of responsibility: where does responsibility for the life of others and one's own life begin and end? How much and why do we pass the responsibility for our life on to others and how much are we responsible for it ourselves? Where does our right to be ourselves end?” (director Tadas Montrim)

I choose projects thinking about where I would like to be. Like visiting Venice here. Or Nepal. Once we filmed in Spitsbergen, the script was idiotic and the movie never came out.

Can't remember. Well, what's up, dear. If so, then you deserve it. Everything that will happen to you next - you deserve it.
