A two-part musical performance shown in Russian with Lithuanian subtitles (translated by Sigitas Parulskis).
The performance in 2013 won four "Golden Cross of the Stage" awards for the year's best direction, scenography, music and performance of the main role.
A pre-holiday children's bath in a family of wealthy intellectuals suddenly ends when the nanny wields an ax and kills one of the wards. The story ends as unexpectedly as it begins - when, after a series of absurd deaths, the play simply runs out of characters. The creative group of director Jonas Vaitkaus' play addresses the audience with such a plot by the famous Russian absurdist Alexander Vvedenskis (1904 - 1941).
The absurdity of waiting for Holy Christmas prevails in the play, characters marked by the patina of caricature are distracted. In the combination of alogisms, naivety and horror - and a pinch of sacredness. This is a paradoxical intersection of poetry, metaphysics and linguistic nuances, where the unconscious becomes more significant than consciousness, fragmentation than integrity.
Half a dozen actors play and sing in the musical performance. They are led on stage by conductor Vytautas Lukočius.
"Vaitkus's work does not fit into any "cultural" frames anymore", - theater expert Daiva Šabasevičienė, "7 days of art".
"Director J. Vaitkus cleverly used the circumstances of A. Vvedenski's play and, it seems, told not so much a story about the Nanny who beheaded a young vulgar girl Sonia Ostrava with an ax, but staged a play about the Russian Drama Theater. And about what cannot be avoided not only in life, but also in the theater. About death, birth, the emergence of a new life. About the change of generations of the troupe and a new audience", - theater critic Andrius Jevsejevs, daily "Lietuvos rytas".
"Vaitkus this time concretizes his manifesto of world idiocy, which he has signed many times", - theater critic Šarūnė Trinkūnaitė, "Menų faktūra".
