Variation on the themes of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novels "Idiot" and "Demons"
Drama in two parts
Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821–1881), a classic of Russian and world literature, the novel "The Idiot" is one of the key and most popular works of this writer, a global cultural value. He wrote this novel while living in Geneva, Milan and Florence, and finished it in 1869. Based on this novel, many plays and films have been created, its main characters - the naive prince Myshkin, the fatalistic Nastasya Filipovna and the fierce Parfion Rogozhin - were played by the world's most famous actors. A play based on this novel was staged in Vilnius Old Theater in 1963.
This time the play based on F. Dostoyevsky's novels "Idiots" and "Demons" was staged by our modern director Agnius Jankevičius, who has appeared prominently in the theatrical avant-garde, does not avoid classical productions in his work, and successfully cooperates with our theater. Jankevich says: "The famous rock musician and poet Jim Morrison, when asked what he thought the audience really needed, replied: 'I think people need something spiritual.' could not contain his laughter. Morrison himself also laughed. At the same evening's concert, the rock star caused a public scandal, thus expressing a protest against using oneself as a fictitious image.
Transferring the parallel to the plot of F. Dostoyevsky's novel, Duke Myshkin is a silent protest that causes a great tsunami of passion to possess in the downtrodden people, although in reality they only need something small and spiritual. Capitalist relations affect moral ones, and moral ones cannot affect capitalist ones. This is The ideological key of F. Dostoevsky's novel "The Idiot", which will unlock the stage version of this work in Lithuanian Russian on the stage of the drama theater." In this version of our theater, the staging of the novel "The Idiot" will also use the motifs of another famous novel by F. Dostoevsky, "Demons".
Premiere of the play - December 15, 2018
