In the new 111th season, the Old Theater invites you to evening tours of the theater. During the tours, the participants will get to know the rich, diverse history of the theater, the architecture of the theater building, look around the service rooms and find out what cultural contribution each theater troupe left here over 111 years.
Since the time of the Great Pohulianka (this was the name of the current J. Basanavičiaus Street in the 20th century BC), the theater has lived several lives: performances in different languages were created on its stage, an orchestra sounded, the voices of opera soloists, pirouettes were performed by ballet artists. The productions of various genres reflected the spirit of a separate era, giving the audience of the capital important plays for the art of Lithuanian theater.
The Queen of Spades was staged on the stage of the old theater. with the costumes and decorations of Mstislav Dobužinskis, the tinny voice of Elena Čiudakova sounded in the opera "Traviata", the soloist Virgilijus Noreika started his career here, the "Mažvydas" by director Henrikos Vancevičius and the legendary play "Pirosmani, Pirosmani..." by Eimuntas Nekrošius were born on the same stage.
The plays were staged by the directors: Romanas Viktiukas, Linas Marijus Zaikauskas, Dalia Tamulevičiūtė, Genadijus Gladijus, Jonas Vaitkus, Oskars Koršunovas, the actors created the roles: Jelena Maivina, Artiomas Inozemtsev, Vladimir Yefremov, etc.
Theaterologist Anastasia Archipova and Old Theater actress Yekaterina Makarova lead the tours.
