A two-part play
Mikhail Bulgakov (1891–1940), works "The Master and Margarita", "Heart of a Dog" and others. author's famous comedy "Zoika's apartment". A particularly fun text (translation into Lithuanian - in the credits), a kaleidoscope of costumed interludes, a series of life paradoxes and grotesque characters - all this reflects the period of the NEP (New Economic Policy) of pre-war Soviet Russia, i.e. a short period of flourishing of the free market. At that time, people with a special drive, sensing the temporary respite, dived headlong into the frenzy of reckless entertainment and passions, and this is what the plot of this comedy is about. A good dozen of extremely extravagant roles are performed here by the whole constellation of the theater. The central character of Zoja Pelc, the owner of a popular fashion salon, is embodied by the temperamental Inga Maškarina. The director Rolandas Augustinas Atkočiūnas, who returned to the stage of the Vilnius Old Theater after a long time, used the famous Latvian artist and stage designer Martinas Vilkārsis and the experienced master of stage melodies, the composer Giedrias Puskunigis for this production. The audience will also be delighted by the gallery of stylish retro dresses created by costume designer Jolanta Rimkutė. Atelier!
